Our Projects

Community Change, Inc. has served more than 50 schools and more than 8,000 elementary, middle and high school youth, parents and staff in seven cities throughout New York State. Some of our recent projects are listed below:

  • We engage more than 200 students in seven Bronx high schools in our Community Change, CareerVisions, Legacy and Peace Models through STEM, art, music and dance activities. This on the strength of our successful 2013 proposal to the New York State Education Department for funding (3-years; $710,000).
  • Through DreamYard, Community Change, Inc. provides teachers and artists at two elementary and middle schools in the Bronx with professional development based on our Community Change Model, as they engage 60 students and their families in this process for analyzing and addressing social issues in their community.
  • Through the Salvadori Center, Community Change, Inc. provides teachers and artists at three high schools in the Bronx with professional development based on our Community Change and CareerVisions Models, as they engage 100 English Language Learners and Students With Disabilities in community organizing and career explorations.
  • Through the Community Word Project, Community Change, Inc. provides teachers and artists at the Bronx Community High School with professional development based on our Community Change and CareerVisions Models, as they engage 30 English Language Learners and Students With Disabilities in community organizing and career explorations.
  • Through the Lehman Arts Gallery, Community Change, Inc. provides teachers and artists at six elementary, middle and high schools in the Bronx with professional development based on our Community Change and CareerVisions Models, as they engage 150 English Language Learners and Students With Disabilities in community organizing and career explorations.
  • Through Global Writes, Community Change, Inc. provides parent workshops and professional development to teachers at four elementary and middle schools in the Bronx.
  • As part of Yonkers’ Public Schools’ Socio-economic Integration Program, Community Change, Inc. provides teachers in two middle schools in Yonkers with professional development based on our CareerVisions Model, as they engage 60 students (including 20 students with disabilities) in career explorations.
  • Community Change, Inc. provides strategic program planning and fund development technical assistance to the NYC Administration of Children’s Services (ACS) and their Close-to-Home program.
  • Community Change, Inc. is developing a Civil Service Exam preparation curriculum for ACS.
  • Community Change, Inc. provides professional development to teachers at a public school (the Bronx High School for the Visual Arts) and a private school (St. Raymond High School for Boys) on the CareerVisions Model to strengthen the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes and internships.
  • Community Change, Inc. offers its and “Legacy” program at the Mt. Vernon High School through the Mt. Vernon’s Youth Bureau’s 21st Century Learning Center.
  • Community Change, Inc. is providing its CareerVisions Institute along with fund development support and strategic planning to the City of White Plains – Youth Bureau.
  • Community Change, Inc. is providing capacity building services to Phipps Neighboods in the areas of marketing, recruitment and retention.
  • Community Change, Inc. is providing professional development to Phipps Neighborhoods on restorative practices. This included a two day Restorative Practices Mini-conference for 100 of their employees.
  • Community Change, Inc. is providing strategic planning support and serving as a fiscal conduit to Concrete Safaris.
  • Both the Community Change and CareerVisions Models continue to be incorporated into undergraduate courses at Lehman College — School of Education, as they have since 2008.
  • As part of Yonkers’ Public Schools’ GEAR-UP Program, Community Change, Inc. provided teachers at four middle schools in Yonkers with professional development based on our CareerVisions Model, as they engage 80 students in career explorations.
  • Community Change, Inc. is engaging a cohort of up to 200 low-income ACS teens in career exploration projects based on our CareerVisions Model; CareerVisions is also designed the student research project for ACS’ summer internship program this year.
  • Community Change, Inc. provided strategic planning services to the Nepperhan Community Center (NCC) in Yonkers to support their Healthy Marriage – Relationship Education Program (HMREP), a 5-year, $10 million initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Healthy and Human Services off the strength of a proposal written by Community Change, Inc.
  • As part of NCC’s HMREP, we launched our CareerVisions Institute in six cities throughout Westchester County in April. This project engaged up to 120 high school youth in six high schools in career explorations based on their hobbies and interests.
