Teacher Mentor Consulting Opportunity

Objectives:

1. To provide guidance to teachers on the design and implementation of the Community Change, CareerVisions, Legacy and Peace Models and select evidence-based curricula.
2. To ensure that the Models are implemented with integrity.

Towards meeting these objectives, the teacher mentor will:

Develop a mastery of the CareerVisions, Community Change, Legacy and Peace Models and select evidence-based curricula.
Ensure the integrity of the CareerVisions, Community Change, Legacy and Peace Models and select evidence-based curricula and adherence to the timeline provided.
Research exercises and references to develop lessons that support the Common Core Standards.
Collaboratively develop lessons with CareerVisions Trainer/Teacher Mentor. Lessons should be aligned with the day school curriculum, intentionally integrate the Common Core Standards, and be based on the teacher’s choice of the Community Change, CareerVisions, Legacy and Peace Models.
Provide professional guidance to assigned teachers.
Provide instructional coaching to assigned teachers in Community Change, CareerVisions, Legacy and Peace and select evidence-based curricula.
Regularly submit draft lesson plans, activity summaries along with invoices.
Attend scheduled meetings with company and/or its client(s).
Coordinate meetings with assigned teacher(s).
Guide teachers to help students network with the community to organize a career fair.
Guide teachers in preparing students to deliver mini-workshops to their peers based on the Community Change, CareerVisions, Legacy and Peace Models.
Submit invoices for payments, supported by research, lesson plans and/or activity summaries.

Time Commitment:

Consultants can take on one or more project depending upon availability. Multiple projects throughout New York State. Each project is 2-3 hours per month (roughly 18 hours per semester), and run before school, during the school day and afterschool.

Compensation:

$75/hour for research, lesson planning sessions and instructional coaching sessions (up to one hour for each); $75/hour for meetings with clients; $300 for workshops for parents; $500 for teacher workshops (on pedagogical topics); and training rate of $37.50/hour for internal meetings and trainings.

Qualifications:

Must be a retired teacher, retired administrator, and/or college professor in good standing with the New York City Department of Education, and others throughout New York State.

Teaching Artists

Develop and implement lessons. Lessons should be aligned with the day school curriculum, intentionally integrate the Common Core Standards, and be based on the teacher’s choice of the Community Change, CareerVisions, Peace and Legacy Models.

Compensation:

Teaching artists: $50/hour for research and lesson planning sessions (up to one hour for each); $50/hour for meetings with clients; $50/hour for the implementation of lessons with youth/students.

Qualifications:

Teaching artists: must be accomplished in an art discipline and capable of delivering engaging, dynamic lessons to students. Must be in good standing with the New York City Department of Education, as well as the public school systems in Westchester County.
